On May 17, 2021, Tunisian military and security units announced they had killed five individuals from Katibat ‘Uqbah Bin Nafi (KUBN) in Jebel Chambi. Among them was KUBN’s leader and treasurer. They also seized six Kalashnikovs in the operation. Following the operation, the Tunisian National Guard released details on each individual killed, which is translated below.

He took over the position of Amir in 2018, after the elimination of the terrorist element popularly known as Bay al-Akrouf. The person concerned is wanted by the Algerian security and military units, on the grounds of his intention to participate in several terrorist operations in Algeria.
