Jihadi Attacks in Tunisia Prior to 2011

In line with my previous posts on the Islamic State and Katibat ‘Uqbah Bin Nafi attacks in Tunisia, I thought it would be worthwhile to share a list on attacks that occurred within Tunisia prior to the Tunisian revolution.

March 10, 2008: Kidnapping of two Austrian tourists in Matmata, claimed by AQIM

December 2006-January 2007: Three week low-level insurgency in Soliman, conducted by AQIM front group Jund Asad Bin al-Furat

April 11, 2002: Djerba synagogue bombing, claimed by al-Qaeda front group Jaysh al-Islami Li-Tahrir al-Muqadisat

October 25, 2001: IED attack in Oum Ali, which killed three soldiers, conducted by GSPC

May 17, 2000: Attacking a Tunisian border post in Thala, which injured two members of the National Guard, conducted by GSPC

February 10, 1995: Murder of seven policemen in Tabarka, claimed by the GIA
